When I heard about the Japan team internship I was immodestly excited about being in a city that had never been reached with the love of God. Right after turning 18 I moved to Japan for the internship.

The team were so passionate about reaching out to young Japanese and fueled me even more. Being in that kind of environment stirred a huge vision in my heart.

I got my first real job and worked around 20 hours per week then spend the rest of the time hitting up universities, coffee shops, high schools, and the street meeting young Japanese and building life groups.

I really found what I was called to do with my life in Japan on the internship. After 18 months I was able to lead many many young Japanese to Jesus, train leaders and get the confidence I would later need to lead a church in Osaka!

After my time in Japan I went back to my city and started a young adult ministry and used the same basics we used in Japan. My time in the internship was a huge blessing to my home church!

If you want to do something huge with your life. Something that has never been done before, then come do in some of the worlds great unreached cities!

After I graduated from university in Australia, I decided to move to Tokyo and teach English for a year just because it was something “different” to do. With no real vision for my life, and no desire to do anything mission related, I started attending Lifehouse Tokyo in 2007.

During my first 6 months at Lifehouse, I was totally challenged to live out my life and my faith with godly purpose and fresh conviction. I was blown away by the genuine joy of the people at Lifehouse Tokyo, and their vision to “change Japan”.

I started to see that they were actually serious? And not only that, but God was all over it. Under the leadership of Ps Rod and Viv, they were really going to “change Japan”.

I started to question my own life plans; how could I leave what God is doing here?
If God was going to change a whole nation, I wanted to be a part of it.

So I decided to stay longer.

And then I decided to stay for good.

I got involved with outreach to young Japanese in Tokyo and then did the same in Yokohama. I was growing as a leader and God had dramatically changed my life through the discipleship and passion of the leaders in Tokyo.

After leaving Tokyo and Yokohama I spent some time in Bali helping establish a church there and then moved to Hong Kong in June of 2011.

Hong Kong is my dream city. It’s hard to explain it to someone who hasn’t been here. I tell everyone that Hong Kong is a place they have to see before they die. It is always pumping. 24/7. It’s the ultimate city! There is always something happening. Im convinced it is the most dynamic city in the world.

To build a dream church for young people, in my dream city, is the opportunity of a life time. There are MILLIONS of young people here that need Jesus, all within a few miles of each other. The opportunity for a vibrant and globally influential church here is enormous. There are over 7 million people here in a city less then half the size of Sydney’s urban center. Why are there no large churches here?

Come and be a part of our team. Come and help us “change Hong Kong” and change thousands of young lives. Be a part of something that will push you out of your comfort zone, and into the calling of God in your life. Live an adventure.

Lifehouse is doing an amazing work, establishing he Kingdom of God on earth over a number of continents. For this they are gaining a lot of attention world wide. We however, want to bring attention to another area of their work…

As parents we nurtured and raised our kids to know and love Jesus. We excitedly watched them grow in the faith and begin to receive their own calling to serve. As they hit their teens we realised the need for mentors in the Christian faith from outside of the family and encouraged them into good, strong church youth groups for such mentoring. Now in their late teens, they are beginning to walk into that calling and need mentoring in their specific area of calling.Such mentors can be hard to find…

One of our sons, Jordan, sensed the calling to be a missionary in Japan at the age of 6. When he graduated high school, still determined to be a missionary to Japan, we released him to work with Lifehouse in Sapporo, Japan. It is never easy to send your 18yr old kid out into the “big wide world”, but through the organised discipleship structures and focused ministry plans of Lifehouse, we are delighted with all our son is doing and experiencing there. He is being mentored in life and ministry, gaining life experiences not possible in Australia and thriving in the strong supportive environment. Jordan works hard and puts in some long hours and is seeing the fruits of his labour. Seeing people who have never heard the name of Jesus come into a dynamic relationship with Jesus, He is more passionate for Christ now than I have ever seen him and is truly living life to the full!

Lifehouse is excelling at reaching young Japanese people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. They are also excelling at training and mentoring young passionate Aussies for this work. Most of these Aussies know that they don’t have a life time calling to Japan but want the opportunity to spend a year doing something heroic for God. They return home after a year or so significantly impacted and able to significantly impact their world. As for Jordan, time will tell, but at this stage it seems this is his life calling. As parents we can not thank the team at Lifehouse enough for the opportunities they are giving to our son – for the training, discipleship and loving mentoring he is receiving there. We are so blessed. Thank you Lifehouse!
