AboutFukuoka is the capital city of the Fukuoka prefecture and is situated on the northern shore of the Island of Kyushu in Japan. It was ranked 12th of the world’s most livable cities in the magazine Monocle in 2013.
As of July 2011 Fukuoka is Japan’s 6th largest city. As of May 2007, the city had an estimated population of 1.5 million people, with a density of 4,184 persons per km2. With an average age of 38.6 years, Fukuoka is Japan’s second youngest major city. It is also Japan’s second-fastest growing city. The wider Fukuoka area has an estimated population of 5 million people. The entire island of Kyushu hosts a population of 14 million people.
Fukuoka prefecture has 53 known universities and colleges. The three main universities in the city have a combined student enrollment of 48,000 students.
Fukuoka is a beautiful city! There are beautiful beaches and mountains surrounding the city. It is a vibrant city full of young people! There are VERY few churches trying to reach the Japanese youth! The people are open and extremely friendly!
